Chloe lay in her hammock looking up at the stars between the leave of the tree she had set up in. She had never enjoyed sleeping on the ground, it was too exposed and prone. As a light breeze passed around her she pulled her cloak tighter around her and tried to relax. Ever since that night she’d been having trouble sleeping. Something about the experience had consumed her and she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something that she was missing, something she had overlooked. Her mind obviously knew what it was which is why she couldn’t get it out of her mind. Closing her eyes she recalled the memory of that job and began to examine it detail by detail. Leaving the camp, taking a round about route, slipping up to the roof and traveling down to the bedroom, the kill, the discovery. As she tried to move on she realized that the discovery was the part that stood out to her the most. What was it about that? Was it just being discovered when she was hiding that well? Opening her eyes again she sighed wanting the answer to her question.
“Can’t sleep?” a voice asked her. She looked towards Nar seeing him perched on a branch slightly above her.
“No,” she replied softly.
"What's keeping you up?" asked Nar, "This situation we've landed in?"
"No. The last kill. Something isn't right about it," she said. "Something beyond the fact that I was discovered. Like it means something to me but I don't know. Things have been weird ever since then."
"Our last two jobs have been really muddy," he agreed.
"Those men weren't guards," she confessed.
"What do you mean?" he asked sitting up in interest.
"The men who discovered me that time... They weren't guards like I said," she said.
"How do you know?" he asked.
"Because the look on their faces. It was one of surprise that someone was there before they were; like we were both hired for the same job, but it was more than that," she explained.
"More like they almost recognized you in some distant way?" he offered.
"A little like that," she nodded. "Why what does it mean?"
"I can't be sure yet. We'll have to wait," he told her. "But forget about it and get some sleep. It's not worth worrying right now, with everything else."
She nodded and tired to settle in for some sleep; he reached over and swung her hammock whispering under his breath. He watched her fall asleep then sighed. Had someone learned that her family line was still alive in her? If it was that was it her mother or father's acquiantances. He knew that things were to get start getting murky now and he took a drag from his cigarette.
